Reading Ambassadors
This year a group of pupils (one from each class) will be helping Miss Riaz with leading reading across the school. The main role of our Reading Ambassadors is to help raise the profile of reading and encourage all pupils to not only enjoy but to read more books! Reading Ambassadors will help to deliver key messages about reading, share competitions and exciting news and also try to help keep our book areas around school tidy. This of course will include our newly revamped school library!
Reading Ambassadors will meet a minimum of once a half term. The minutes from our meetings are included below:
Meeting - October 2025
Meeting - November 2025
Exciting News!
During December 2025 we will be launching our exciting new competition - The 12 Days of Reading!
Welcome to my 12 Days of Reading Challenge for the month of December! This month I am challenging all pupils to read a variety of different texts over the course of 12 days! Pupils can either read (or have read to them) a chapter in their reading book, a library book, books at home or at school, a newspaper article, a poem online, a biography on Wikipedia or even listen to some audio stories online! All you need to do is record what you have read and hand it back to me by Tuesday 16th December. Recording sheets are available in class and all entries returned will be entered into a reading prize draw! Happy reading everyone!

The School Library
Our school has a large school library which is an inviting place for pupils to come and read. The library is well resourced with a variety of non-fiction and fiction books suitable for all ages. There is a variety of picture books and a new bi-lingual section to help encourage reading for EAL pupils.
All classes are encouraged to come and use the school library at least once a week to allow pupils the experience of listening to stories in this stimulating environment. All pupils can also make use of this time to borrow a library book to take home. We change books weekly and there are many recommended reads available to help promote new books and also to encourage the reading of those classic well-loved stories! Reading Ambassadors have worked together to create the following rules from the school library.

Our school library often has themed displays linked to current and relevant events. There are recommended reads and reading activities linked to these events on display for pupils to borrow/take home.
